Our Programs
"Good habits formed at youth make all the difference."
Innovation, Talent Development, and Job Creation
Unemployment for youth is a growing concern. Youth account for 60 per cent of all African unemployed, according to the World Bank. In Kenya, the youth unemployment rate is above 40 per cent. The ability of youth to engage in productive agricultural and non-agricultural activities has social and economic benefits for both the young people and the economy. However, many youths in Kenya have negative perceptions of farming.
Makueni Youth Network empower and mentor students and out-of-school young people to pursue innovative agribusiness related careers. The goal of this programming is to increase youth’s use of technology to establish sustainable livelihoods. Thus, our training and coaching covers wider areas such as [1] youth access to knowledge, information and education; [2] talent development; [3] youth access to financial services; [4] youth access to green jobs; [5] youth access to markets; and [6] youth engagement in policy dialogue.
